Regulations

The Newcastle Council has advised me of the State Environmental Planning Policy (Exempt and Complying Development Codes) 2008.

http://www.legislation.nsw.gov.au/maintop/view/inforce/epi+572+2008+cd+0+N

Part 2, Division 1, Subdivision 21 outlines the standards for which Fowl and Poultry Houses have to meet in order to be considered exempt development, and not require Council’s approval.

To help in understanding the different zoning mentioned in the Planning Policy here is a link that shows what Newcastle’s equivalent zones are. In most cases they are residential (R1-R5).
